The climate and weather of Udaipur is usually hot, the burning hot summer, the humid monsoon season and the warm winter make up the holiday climate, the surrounding hills, the endless green woods, making this lake city a magnet for tourists from all over the world.
We designed a resort-Valley of Winds. The main body of the hotel is set between the basement floor and the first floor，which form several small valleys. and the scattered courtyards bring in the cool breeze, with the blue pool at the bottom of the valley, allowing guests to enjoy and relax completely.
The shape of the entire space is taken from the linear texture of the original site, and the extracted longitudinal lines are used as composition elements to generate WAllS, and then divided into buildings and yards, creating the initial form.
From east to west, the hotel is divided functionally into the guest room area, the public activity area and the logistics office area.Their entrances and exits and flow lines corresponding to each area make the personnel of different flow lines do not interfere with each other respectively, and also form a good dynamic and static zone.
In addition, we also considered the sustainable design of the hotel, the combination of the courtyard and the pool significantly reduces the indoor temperature and brings cool air exchange, saving air conditioning costs. Roof greenery reduces heat absorption on the top floor. The wooden grating outside the glass is a good shade. Solar panels on the roof provide electricity compensation for the hotel.
Unlike other underground buildings, we exposed the rock on the side wall of the excavation to form a natural landscape, and the rock appeared in various scenes of the hotel, the entrance, the cafeteria, the end of the guest room...The whole building group is integrated with nature, it is implicitly hidden in the trees, as if it grew out of the ground. At the same time, the natural scenery permeates into the architectural space, whether it is the courtyard of the swimming pool, the party lawn, the palm yard, each space has a different landscape participation, while each guest room also has a unique view, some can see the courtyard, see the distant mountains, some can see the pool, see the rocks.
We use local materials, with the most local construction methods, combined with the context of the site to create a quiet, mysterious,cool and comfortable resort hotel.
